World Meteorological Day — Learning to Fly Starts on the Ground

Today on World Meteorological Day, we’re celebrating an important — and often surprising — parts of a Flying Scholarship: ground school.

A scholarship with Flying Scholarships for Disabled People isn’t just about time in the cockpit. It’s also about learning the theory that keeps pilots safe and confident, including subjects like meteorology, navigation, air law and human performance. For many scholars, this is the moment they discover they can learn complex new material — even subjects they once thought were out of reach.

This learning journey is made possible thanks to the generous support of Pooleys Flight Equipment Ltd, who provide all the manuals and study materials our scholars need. Their commitment ensures every scholar, regardless of background or disability, has the tools to succeed both in the air and on the ground.

Meteorology teaches our scholars how to read the skies

Pooleys helps them understand the science behind it

And FSDP gives them the confidence to bring it all together

A flying scholarship is more than flying — it’s knowledge, growth and possibility.
