Meet Steve Farrer who took on the challenge of learning to fly and discovered something unexpected along the way.
“I’ve dreamt of flying since I was young, and this scholarship finally made it real. With encouragement from the FSDP team, my mentors and trustee, I began to believe I could achieve something for myself after years of doubt.
On my first day I didn’t expect to fly, but taking control of the plane and climbing to 5,500 ft was unforgettable. The early weeks were tough, yet by week three everything started to click. When my instructor, Glenn, reminded me how far I’d come, it changed how I saw myself.
In my final week I was determined to land the plane — and I did. That smooth landing felt like a turning point. I now know that even if things take me longer, they’re still possible.
The sky’s not the limit.
Thank you to everyone at FSDP and to my sponsor, The Ingram Trust, as well as Glen and the team at Sherburn Aero Club for making this experience possible”
Steve’s experience raises an interesting question: what might you learn about yourself when you try something new?
